I've searched for this information on the Gold Passport site and also here on FT, but haven't been able to find an answer.
Can I use my Platinum award to earn "Points for Dining" even though I'm a registered guest earning miles? The certificate states that a hotel stay is not required to use the award, so I'm thinking that it's not connected to any specific earning option requested during my stay. I don't want to find out the hard way that it's not eligible.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have used those in the past when I was not a guest in the hotel and it worked fine one time and not so well the other (meaning points didn't post automatically). IME, it depends on the hotel staff who manually processes your cert. Again, like with any other issues you may have with GP points, a quick call to CS solves the problem. In my case they posted the missing credit while I was on the line. Just make sure you give it enough time to post as these usually take much longer than regular points for stays.
I am pretty sure that it doesn't matter whether you select miles or points for your stay but I don't have first hand experience with this situation.
