Thanks for the replies and for clarifying the reasons why the regs differ from country to country. It was the first time I'd come across the difference and was curious as to why! Fortunately we have one more (longhaul) flight with the kids and then that's us done flying as a family for a few years - we're moving back to the UK in December and we've done enough flying with the kids to last us a few years
