After I booked my flights which included AF flights, I called DL and got the AF record locator. Put that into AF's website, and was able to pull up the seat map and choose my seats. Extremely easy.

I don't think this will work using a ticket number issued by DL - it probably needs an AF ticket prefix to recognize it properly.
