Rubbish easyJet Website, and other Cheapness
I cannot be alone in noticing how utterly rubbish and user-unfriendly easyJet's website has become. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s it was a model of efficiency and user-friendliness, and it seemed to be one of the few websites that actually work properly. Now, most of the time, the pages don't load, and it takes several attempts to complete a booking. Sometimes error messages come up, and the systems just freezes, with the buttons going dead (I hate that).
If you have an account at easyJet for bookings (which one seems to be obliged to), it seems to be impossible to log-out. Each and every time, the system just freezes, which it often does while you're logging and moving around as well.
Now, try to reach a real person, and good luck to you. By telephone the phone lines are stupidly overpriced. I sure hope I never have to do this. But try sending an email, and there is nowhere obvious from where one can reach a customer representative (what on Earth's that?). Once again, I really hope I am not alone in hoping for a revolt in this 'internet only' world we live in. I vote for bringing back real people in airports (I know there are some), and easy-to-reach real people through website support, as well as reasonable offline booking options. Several reasons for this: these websites, such as easyJet's, should work as they claim to do; the internet should be a free accessible thing everywhere (similar to electricity, which we take for granted); and it should work without all the hiccups and failures that seem to plague it quite apart from rubbish web design. If an ideal world was like this, then I would accept being forced and obliged with no choice (as it is now) to do everything online.
Is there anything good about the website? Well, I would say that the way flights are displayed is quite good, so you don't have to go clicking back and forwards to change the date or selection. It presents you with a broad enough range, if you click the flexible on dates? button. The other thing I like is how your bookings, past and future, are displayed in the Manage My Bookings section.
During the 5 years of so that I lived in Germany, I had the good fortune to never need to use easyJet, because it simply didn't fly anywhere useful for me (Switzerland to Germany is not much served, except GVA-BER). I noticed that the website was constantly changing, the way everything in Britain seems to change all the time (turn your back, and business phone numbers change, shop logos change, etc.). And every change was definitely not an 'improvement'.
I am no easyJet apologist, I don't like their concept and general 'cheapness' and I loathe this scrum for finding a seat on boarding. If there is an alternative, I will take it, but sometimes one can really save time on their non-stop services. Other people generally unhappy with the easyJet experience, and would like to see things really improved?
