Front Cabin Fare Class Changes - Eff. Oct. 27, 2009

Hi Everyone,

As some of you have noticed, we updated some of our front cabin fare classes this past weekend. These changes apply to itineraries departing on or after Oct. 27, 2009. Here's a summary of our front cabin fare class lineup and the updates:
  • J stays as J
  • C stays as C
  • F stays as F
  • D turns into C for BusinessFirst markets; stays as D in all others
  • Z turns into D for BusinessFirst and Domestic markets; stays as Z in all others
  • A turns into Z (and will be entitled to Z class earnings)
  • R stays as R
  • O stays as O
  • I stays as I
  • CN turns into FN for Elite front cabin EasyPass rewards
  • CU turns into FE for instant Elite upgrades from Y class
  • AN turns into ZN for general front cabin EasyPass rewards (and for instant Elite upgrades confirmed prior to Oct. 3)
  • AN turns into ZE for instant Elite upgrades from M and B classes (for bookings made after Oct. 3)
After we ran the schedule change this past weekend, we had some hiccups - each of which was dutifully pointed out here on FlyerTalk. Here's a recap:
  • Some flights are showing generic 737 and 757 equipment codes. Don't let our receipts fool you, we're not bringing back the 737-100. As it turns out, several 737-operated flights were loaded with the generic "737" code, which some of our systems decoded as a 737-100. Similarly, several 757-300 flights were loaded with the generic “757” code, the same code that’s used to denote a 757-200. The affected 737 and 757 flights will be re-loaded with their correct series within the next couple days.

  • Some reward and instant upgrade fare classes may be temporarily unavailable. While most of these have been addressed, we are still seeing intermittent examples for general (non-Elite) Economy Class EasyPass rewards. This will be resolved shortly.

  • Some fare classes were incorrectly labeled as "Coach". This should also be corrected.

  • 737-900 exit rows were loaded incorrectly. While not related directly to the fare class changeover, we also made some minor seat map changes over the weekend. During that process, we inadvertently moved the exit rows on our 737-900s from rows 15/16 to rows 18/19 for dates Oct. 27 and beyond. This will be corrected within the next week. In the mean time, customers seated in exit rows should not attempt to re-seat themselves, as our seat reassignment process will do this automatically. This process will specifically ensure that special seat types like exit row and bulkhead seats are preserved.
I think that covers it. If you have any questions, or if I'm missing anything, please let me know.
