He is right (the minibar alone can be worth hundreds of dollars), and some Intercontinental hotels are particularly fine. But there are 2 problems: much less coverage than Hyatt, and very inconsistent quality (some Intercontinentals are mediocre). It really depends on your travel patterns, if the cities you visit have good Intercontinental properties, then it is a better program. Personally I find Starwood Platinum and Hyatt Diamond better -- despite traveling to cities with excellent Intercontinental hotels, and I do stay with them at times.
