The biddingfortravel website is great. If you read the postings closely, in many cases you can assure yourself of getting a Hyatt. For example, at the Newport, RI Hyatt the best rate I could find for this Friday was $260 on a AAA rate (and $350 otherwise). With tips from the website I bid $60 for a three star hotel on Goat Island (- the only such hotel is the Hyatt!). My bid was accepted; I've called and they added my Diamond Gold Passport number to the reservation. In past stays at this hotel on regular rates I've gotten very nice suite upgrades - we'll see how they treat diamonds on a Priceline stay!</font>
They should treat you well. According to my info in NY, the Hyatt check-in people there often only know that you have a pre-paid conference rate and are Diamond and don't go into additonal details.
