I am flying YOW-YYZ-YVR-HKG this week in J (Aeroplan reward ticket booked about 9 months ago).

I arrive in YYZ 3 hours before the YYZ-HKG leaves.

I will have 2 pieces of checked luggage.

I have no status.

I know that same-day standby is available for reward tickets in J (though not sure whether a routing change such as mentioned here is possible.

The YYZ-HKG fligh current showing J=2. (yes, I know that the chances of there being a seat available on my day of departure are slim).

Assuming that a J seat on YYZ-HKG is available at time of check-in at YOW, is it possible to request a change from YYZ-YVR-HKG to YYZ-HKG?

Assuming that a J seat is available at check-in at YOW, is it feasible to make a request for a change from YYZ-YVR-HKG to YYZ-HKG, or does my checked luggage and other issues get in the way of such a request.
