But if you bought a Y ticket then you only get 1 upgrade. Wait, if there is a 3 class plane with BC full, and Y is oversold, any chance of someone getting a upgrade to FC skipping over BC?
AA does not permit double upgrades initiated by the passenger. Period.
AA does not permit elite upgrades from Business Class to First; only miles or certs work for that, and those won't even work if you're already upgraded from coach to business (NO double upgrades - see above).
AA might roll the cabins if coach is oversold (business pax to first, coach to business), but that's really irrelevant to
GTITAN's excellent summary. Discussions of operational upgrades (initiated by the airline and not the passenger) just add noise.
