I have kept each of my kid's flight first's too. If you ask the agent nicely, they will print you an 'extra' so that you have the whole ticket. Now they just scan the ticket anyway, so it doesn't matter.

The best one was the first time that Master Calitequilasipper<boy> appeared on my boys tickets. They thought that was awesome
