The really ambient, relaxing, non-vocal music of AA is fine. And they rightly turn it off when it is time to go through safety announcements etc., and it doesn't return. What I HATE is the trend on many airlines toward putting on pop music tunes during taxi, take-off, landing, etc. There is so much noise and music pollution already in our lives, in retail stores, sporting events, everywhere you go there's frigging loud music, and I hate that it is now invading even the sanctity of the airline cabin. And I am a huge music fan so it is not like I don't enjoy music. Iberia is one of the ones that comes to mind. Trying to be hip I guess, like the plane is a long skinny A&F store or something.
