Well, here is Hyatt's reply. Atleast they are prompt. I will leave this for the board to chew on.

"I have spoken with the supervisors and they have told me that this is a disclaimer that is legally required but not necessarily applicable. Hyatt will extend the expiration date on any certificate issued through our offices. California does have a law
that does not allow gift certificates to ever expire, but Hyatt does reissue gift certificates. All you have to do is mail the certificates back to us three weeks prior to the certificate expiring. The address that you send it to is Hyatt Hotels and Resorts,
9805 Q St. , Omaha, NE, 68127. Attn Gift Certificate Office. Thank you for your email and I hope this helps you out.
