High speed internet in the rooms
I recently stayed at the Arlington Hyatt. This hotel is very conveniently located above a metro station. The rooms are evidently aimed at business travelers, there is a desk with desk chair, power and phone outlets.
An ethernet cable had been added when I was there a few days ago. There was a sign stating that you should plug in the ethernet before booting the computer and the browser would come up automatically. This did not really work for me and I had to do a winipcfg release and renew first. After that I got a blazingly fast 3 Mbps internet connection, even faster than my 1.6 Mbps cable connection at home.
What was missing was any indication in the room of the cost of using the internet connection. I was in a business plan room. On the table was a little placard that said that these rooms now had an internet connection as well as some phone charging information.
Upon checkout I discovered that there was a $9.95 daily charge for using the connection. I did not have time to discuss it at the checkout desk, but I really feel that the charge should have been posted in the room so people could decide whether they found using it worthwhile given the cost.
