Thanks, LIH Prem, of course you're right, that would have been the easiest way. I don't actually know why I didn't call for help, I guess because it was late at night... zzzzzz
But I usually try to take these things with a bit of humour, and figuring something out myself is part of the challenge
The hotel is actually really nice (once you know your room a little better...).
