The 48-hour guarantee only applies to paid rooms, not award rooms. The "diamond special request" to open up an award room is not part of the standard diamond benefits. It's something they go out of their way to do for a good customer, and it's usually granted. Are you crazy? No. But you might have your expectations set too high.
