When the Super Bowl was here in PHX, nearly every property (even on the other side of town) used that as an excuse out of reward stays. Even the Hilton Scranton uses the Marathon with the same reasoning, so it doesn't have to be a huge event.
It's called leaf peeping season. Most hotels are full on weekends in October as people come from all over to admire the fall foliage. Were you trying the Doubletree or the
new Hilton?
