GA administers verbal smackdown to early boarding request

Mods, feel free to merge with appropriate thread.

We were a little late boarding #256 (PIT-LAX) yesterday. Not sure why, though it may have been connected to the 5-6 people that needed wheelchair assistance. All the wheelchairs were down the ramp and a woman made her way to the front of the line and approached the gate agent. She was holding one of those quart plastic bags. I was standing right there and this is a pretty good rendition of the dialog:

woman (politely, if not timidly): I'm diabetic and I need early boarding.

GA: What?!? Get out of here, you don't get to board early because you're diabetic.

woman: but I have a medical condition.

GA: I gotta medical condition too. I have diabetes and I have to work. Get outta here. I don't want to see you again until zone 4 is called.

At that point the woman slinked (slunk?) back into the line. I was totally blown away by what happened. I mean, the GA just went from 0 to 60 in nothing flat on that poor woman. I'm sure she'll never get on another United flight again. I don't know if the GA was trying to be funny and lighthearted, but it sure did not come off that way.
