Ah. I'm going to take a differing view.
Maybe I drank the Delta koolaid... maybe it was in ATL's water fountain, maybe a drop of the koolaid was snuck in my water on the plane... I don't know. But, I love DL. I've never flown NW so I can't understand or appreciate how supposedly wonderful NW was. However, DL really isn't that bad. As a non-elite, when I missed a connection in ATL,
my fault (DL did add to it by the first flight being slightly delayed by 10 minutes), DL rebooked me into Y the next morning without any question, and put me up in a hotel for free. Flight attendants has been warm and caring for the most part (of course, bad apples are far and in between, just like you'd find at any other company), and the planes are clean and comfortable. ATL, SLC, and CVG are all nice hubs--ATL can be crowded, but the terminals are always clean and they have plenty of food choices. JFK...that's the expection. It's a total nightmare, something DL definitely needs to work on. Of course, DL isn't perfect...but who is? To paint DL as "evil" is really unnecessary, IMHO. You have every right to hate DL, but remember that
every airline has its' own problems (yes, even NW) and while DL may seem less appealing than NW, give it time. If you still aren't happy, it's your preogrative to leave and join another airline that meets your expectations better.
Just my +2 ... however, I really do understand where you're coming from.
