how and when would I do that? called ANA and didn't work

booking class is W (should work according to flyertalk upgrade summary) and I have enough Miles&More miles to upgrade with it but it didn't work with the online tool (NH says the fare is not upgradable) - is that a known problem? did they change the rules for W class? call SEN hotline?

just found that

Eligible Booking Class for upgrades depends on the Country of origin
US, Europe, and Asia (excluding Taipei)
Y/E/B/M/S
China (including Hong Kong), and Taipei
Y/E/B/M/S/K
