We are older and staying overnight makes more sense than red-eye flights for us.
PHL is a terrible airport versus EWR. However, in this particular case, EWR flights are all in the high three figures (B fares).
So if the OP has "throwaway" MR points, then it's an okay MR for Elite status.
But OP, you should realize that on this forum, and even more so on the MR forum, every expense (parking, driving, hotels) has to be factored in.
Also note that you can do the same flight later in the week for $247 pp all-in, for a total of $494. (tuesday-wednesday).
