Storyteller - thanks very much for the response there! It's an interesting itinerary, but the price comes out a lot higher than doing it the way I originally said. I'll keep it in mind though, I'll have to renew next year too haha!

Yes, I went back to Australia earlier in the year and got a cheap SYD-MEL-HBA-MEL-SYD for the segments. Of course, I did more QF flying than I thought, and I'm about to do my 8th for the year (BKK-LHR). Shame you can't carry them over

You're DUB-MAD-BCN trip is a good one, which you could combine with a very cheap MAD-FRA RT on LA which nets your additional 30SC. I did this last year, and the LA flights in Q class cost me about £65 return all in. In theory it requires an overnight in FRA, but as you can print your own boarding passes, there's nothing to stop getting off the plane and then getting straight back on (aside from the odd look you may get from the crew).

This is great - I just priced it and it's €80 return on LA MAD-FRA-MAD, which I had no idea you could fly. I'll be doing that for sure, as I've never had the pleasure of flying on LAN, and it'll knock another oneworld airline off my list.
