The hotel looks really nice, the grounds are not spacious, it is squeezed into a parcel right next to the Loews. They offer beach equipment for free ( actually included with the Resort Fee of $ 9 per room )
Valet Parking only, $ 20 per night
Had a terrible stay there in 2002, was booked on a reward night, checked in and the manager saw the very expensive rack rate Priority Club booked us for the award.
I believe, it was in the $ 240 range during the off season ( it was during the soccer WC, so early June, IIRC )
To quote him: "Let`s see what kind of room, we can find for you" and after some searching in his computer,he found us a top floor room overlooking the ocean , handed me over the key and the statement to sign.
I checked the statement and realised that the room rate was $ 240 and asked him, if he knows that it is actually a reward night.
"Ooops" was his next word and he frantically looked for another room and found us the smallest room the property has, actually ridicously small , no balcony or window to open overlooking the pool of the Loews...
When we showed up at the beach around 4 p.m. nobody from the hotel was there ( so no beach chairs or cabans )and the services included with the resort fee were not available in the pool area.
Available in the pool area was airplane noise,( don`t know, if it is included with the resort fee )
Actually all european carriers flew directly over the CP after takeoff for their european destinations..
At that time Northwest used a DC 10 to Schiphol and Iberia a 747-200 to Madrid, very modern and quite airplanes.( BTW, no airport codes for your convenience ! )
So I guess you can find a better hotel in the area, if you look for a true upscale property, pay some bucks more and enjoy a nice holiday at one of the small boutique hotels Miami Beach is famous for, but avoid the CP, if you are used to a high level of personal service.
