I'm working to make this as easy as possible for my bank. They've been (and continue to be) good - great! - to me, and I want to keep that going.
So now I pre-bag my coins before I arrive. I try to arrive at quiet times (no Fridays, not after work or during lunch). And I bring gifts of candy from time to time.
But I need some help on the big issues:
-What costs are these banks facing? Clearly, they need a Brinks truck to deal with this, but they have that coming regularly anyway, no? The bags cost money, but I'm working on that.
-Do the receiving banks or the Fed charge my bank to accept these coins?
-Beyond the pain of carrying this stuff around, how else are they inconvenienced?
-Could large cash deposits look good on the manager's statistics?
I'm really trying to figure out how to make this cost my bank the least, so as to make it work the longest. In many ways, we all win here: the Mint, UPS, my cardboard recycler, the CoinLok people, me, the tellers (candy). I'd like even the bank to be a bit ahead, or at least even.
