I have always found the IC a bit more refined and less snooty than The Grand. The staff at the latter had that condiscending attitude, while those at the IC were more pleasant, yet still efficient. I believe The Grand has just been rennovated, but when I was there three years ago it was showing its age, and rather threadbare. Depending upon what you want to do in Paris, the location of each is superb. I think The Grand may have it over the IC here, as you are close to the large department stores, the Madelaine and its gourmet food shops, and the Metro. Also, the Air France bus to/from CDG stops a half block from The Grand across from the Opera. The IC has a more diplomatic feel to it, The Grand, the idle rich...
