First I want to say the staff is super nice, very friendly and helpful.
I stayed in a standard room and was not upgraded. I was told I was upgraded, but I didn't think it was an upgrade. Standard room on the SPG floor...and yes, it needs painting and new carpets. Black marks all over the walls. The shower was showing some mold. The towel rack in the shower was crooked and looked funny. I couldn't help but laugh. Poor attention to detail on the hotel's part.
Is it me or do resorts not like to put Heavenly Bath Towels in rooms on SPG Guest Floors? Everytime I have stayed at a resort, I have to ask for the towels. Oh...and the maids knocked on our door when I had a DND sign out front.
Now for the scary part...do you remember the mentally unstable lady causing a scene in the lobby and hallways? She was running up and down the hallways, knocking on doors with a silly Santa hat on, causing one commotion after another. The staff had to call the police on her and take her away. She came up to us and started yelling something about Thundercats in the lobby. I was not quite sure what she was saying, honestly. That is what it sounded like. My wife was visably shaken and did not feel safe. We left the hotel for dinner. It was truly out of control.
The hotel erased a $15 room charge and gave us 2,500 Starpoints.
They need remodeling.
That's unfortunate that you didn't enjoy the weekend. I felt very privileged to get upgraded to the suite I was in. It also looked like there were as many as 4 large suites per floor. I was there on a Saturday night which I'm sure is the slowest and their weren't any events going on a the Dr. Pepper Ballpark or the Pizza Hut Soccer Complex. It was dead at the hotel from what I could tell, not a single event going on in the attached meeting/convention space.
I believe I posted just after staying to give you an idea of what weekend I was there but I don't remember any commotions. I would have gladly had my door knocked on by a crazy Santa hat wearing lady for 2500 Starpoints! As we were leaving for dinner off Legacy there was two police Tahoe's that quickly drove by me and pulled on both front and back of a VW Jetta (I think I remember that for some reason) that was sitting running although not parked in the first few rows of spaces in front of the hotel. Maybe was this the lady? Trying to make her gettaway? I do remember it being a female... I didn't stay for the show but to get two police must have meant she was really causing trouble.
I would love to see the property get the full upgrade of the rooms. The common and checkin areas are fine but the rooms aren't the almost W chic furnishings that you see in recently remodeled Westins.
I'm going to guess if you don't need amenities and don't have kids who would use that great pool with the mini water slide, you could probably stay at the newer Sheraton Stonebriar and have a much fresher decor. Although I swear it looks like a Hilton Garden Inn from the outside!
