This seems to be a very complicated word. I've heard it pronounced ma' KAHA and also MAKA' ha. You can break the word down into many smaller Hawaiian words: ma, ka, ha, maka & kaha. Using my online HI DICTIONARYmakes me dizzy. So, experts, what say you? Not only is it a town on the leeward side of Oahu it also lends it name to one of my favorite musical groups, Makaha Sons.
