Although I believe most FTers would have drained their old points by beginning of this year when they took the fixed point option away. Though some of us since than have taken advantage of the 3 to 5 x retention offers and started cumulate quite a bit again...

Thanks for the tip on how to view expiration dates of all the points earned! I am one of those that has built up quite a few points this year with the retention offer on my PPE card (have almost hit the 200k annual max).
Question: I have an almost 2 year old Citi Platinum AMEX card with about 8k points in my current TY Point balance. These points have a 5 year expiration date... longer than any of the others in my account. I plan to cancel this card in January since it has a high annual fee. Will I lose my 8k points associated with this card? If I can convince Citi to consolidate this into my PPE account, would that help avoid loss of the points? I had originally planned to spend 8k or more points before cancelling since the Amex points were the oldest ones earned, but I suspect the spent points would come from my "soonest to expire" points, not the ones from AMEX.
