You're absolutely right. For random dates CX produces a fare of about $4000 compared to roughly $5900 plus taxes for a DONE3. Pretty amazing fare for the distance! And there are even cheaper options (and faster - in one direction at least) with Delta and Sri Lankan if OW is not that important.
