If AA has "upgraded" this flight to trans-con status, I'll upgrade anytime. Its a 4 hour flight and there's no reason to NOT give up the full monty.
I'm on AA 819 right now, and they HAVE upgraded the service. I wouldn't call it transcon level, but I would call it midcon +. We got the shrimp appetizer and salad, bread on an actual PLATE, app and salad plates cleared and then entrees, all plates and trays cleared, and then ice cream. Water/juice predepartures, continual cocktail refills, etc. The FC FA has been very attentive through the whole flight. And we're starting to descend....the aircraft that is, not the service level! ^^^^
