I have a sentimental favorite: Karee no Ousama (Curry King) near Ichigaya on the south bank of the Sotobori Moat.
When I first came to Japan in the 1970s and spent two weeks in nearby the YWCA (it no longer offers rooms) while waiting for an apartment, Karee no Ousama was the first place I went for dinner.
It offers standard Japanese curry of various varieties, nothing special, but every time I go back, I check to see if it's still there.
As of November 2007, it still was, the menu unchanged but the shop now staffed by young people who weren't even born the first time I went.
