Sorry, I hit send before finishing up. The Holiday Inn Republique is a very nice hotel. We were there in April and were very pleased. We were upgraded without asking (lovely room, facing inner courtyard--very quiet). Room was decent size with very modern bathroom & separate w/c. The entire staff was delightful, including Bruno!! We speak French but everyone was very happy speaking English to us as well. The maid service was very good too. We had the buffet breakfast included in our rate and it was fine, certainly enough food to get us going for the day. The dining room had a good sized no smoking area which is important to us. We've been to Paris about 15 times and have stayed in many hotels, this H.I. was a very pleasant surprise. Incidentally, it is in a historical bldg. and looks like a chateau from the outside. The 5 Metro lines practically at your doorstep is very convenient too. The Plaza it faces is nice enough with plenty of places to eat. It's just a short walk over to the Canal St. Martin, a nice place to stroll. We'd stay there again without hesitation.
