Maybe they just haven't gotten round to your booking yet.
LCCs routinely cancel flights. But then the task is up to reservations to contact people who have confirmed bookings. Then they will get the online bookings and then manually have to do that. Sometimes it may be up to one month prior to departure.
I wouldn't say that they have entirely ignored you, but that doesn't help you much now. Glad you found out in time though and can make alternate plans.
Did Air Asia say that they will refund you?
