I suddenly need to get back from AKL-LHR in the first week of January. This is the height of peak season. SQ allowed me to waitlist an award booking in business class....Does anyone have any insight into whether this means there's a reasonable chance? (I would imagine they wouldn't let you waitlist if there were already several people waitlisted for example?).

Any insight/previous experiences would be gratefully received, as I'll need to decide whether to try and find other options.
