Thnaks for all the input. From the responses and my own limited experience I guess that you need to ask for an upgrade otherwise no chance at least in the US.

I just called the Marriott reservation center and they made me Plat without even wanting to see my 6c credentials. That was alomost too easy because I would have gladly faxed them my statement. BUT, reading the Marrott threads, it's not going to be any easier to get upgrades.

The point bonuses with 6c are definitely better than Marriott but then where do you redeem them with 6c? ICs are far and few between when you need them?

Anyone booked the IC on Bora Bora successfully with points. I'd love to hear about it!!!
