I'm quite used to the iPhone and it works well enough for me so I use that. Another advantage is that I don't have "think" of packing it since I pack my phone anyways. There is just too many little things that I should/could/would need to pack for any given trip and in a way I like it when I don't have to "think of packing" but can focus on the "real purpose" of the trip.

Ok, longer than expected post - long story short, iPhone does the trick for me
There are plenty of apps with alarm clock features. I like the one that turns your IPhone into a flash light.
