If you decide on individual tickets it's probbaly best to use the bus from Florence to Sienna.

The bus leaves form the coach station near the railway terminal in Florence but, more importantly, serves the town centre in Sienna. The city centre in Sienna is a fair uphill walk from the railway station.

The killer blow for the bus is that it is also quicker than the train.
