Thumbs up ZUCA review

Someone in another thread asked about ZUCA, and I figured it was best to post this here.

I love my ZUCA. I can pack all kinds of stuff in it and not feel like I'm hauling around a monster like my other bag.

I'm able to get 4 dress shirts (rolled), a pair of slacks, 4 boxers\undershirts, my lighuids, travel CPAP\mask\6' hose, a pair of shoes, and misc items (resistance bands, various chargers and small items) with no issues. A better packer could probably to do more, and I only ever feel cramped because of the CPAP.

As far as quality, the frame (meant for sitting) will withstand 300 pounds, and shows it. The covering is ballistic nylon, so it's strong, but not 'solid' like a standard roll-aboard. If you over pack it will bulge, which is kinda handy considering its size.

The frame does come into play when going in the overhead. If it doesn't fit in longways, it has to go in sideways. Unlike my old bag, where the top would squish a little, the frame prevents this. So far it has had to go sideways on all 737\319\320s, and longways on a 757.

Also, due to the sides being fabric only with no real support, I would be iffy about taking it on a flight where I thought I would need to check it. I avoid SEA-LAX connections for this very reason, all of UA flights are UX and on 170s.

I like that it's narrow, so it easily fits down the aisle. On the otherhand, it is less stable due to this. With my old 22" I could set it down and run. With the Zuca, I have to make sure the wheels are stable before I take off. In addition, if you put a bag on top (I got the Zuca backpack), it the top bag slips it can pull the whole get up off center. On the other hand, the wheels are about as smooth as they come.

I already had some packing cubes, but love that the lugage comes with it.

As I understand it, if you buy it from Overstock, it doesn't come with the lifetime warranty, but direct from Zuca it does. I lucked out, when I ordered all they had were some that had arrived with light scratching on the frame. They gave me the Overstock price due to the blemish, and I still have the warranty.

All in all I think this is a great bag for someone who travels on shorter trips and never checks luggage. And you always know you've got something cool when it turns the most jaded FA's head
