Hi pirossalma, it's strange how many times we transit a city, yet never see it. People ask if I have been to Mumbai (Bombay) and I say yes, but really it's only the airport I know. Auckland is a similar city, but there I also know the inside of a conference centre. Milan I know the train station very well and I have to stop myself because I am thinking of so many.

I used the Singapore holiday last year, tagging it onto a Singaore Air flight, spent 3 nights over on Sentosa Island, because for some reason, Singapore was booked out and the only accomodation I could find was there. The rate is fixed and in an alphabetical range with each catergory having 3/4 choices. I found the rate to be very reasonable too. If you are aligned with a hotel chain, they will give you points which was a bonus and breakfast was included in the packages chosen. It's annoying when the flight arrives late and you find that the hotel day rate covers only a couple of hours, but you would be amazed how often the reverse happens, so if you travel a lot, it evens out. If this is your first time to Singapore, I would recommend you try to stay somewhere near or on Orchard Road. It becomes passe after the first couple of trips, but this is the tourist heart, the shopping center and the pulse of Singapore. Eating is a different ballgame, seek out the markets and the food stalls. Enjoy your flight with SQ, regards bkkrop
