We didn't stay there, but stopped by. It seemed like a very nice area of the city to stay and we commented at the time that it seemed like it would be an excellent choice for a return visit. With respect to the Skytrain, keep in mind that taxis are extremely cheap in Bangkok (like in the $3/hour range, as best we could determine). You can also use a tuk-tuk -- (some people find these a bit too exposed, but I enjoyed it)-- for about $1.50/hour. Tuk-tuks have the advantage of being smaller than a vehicle, so they can get around some tie-ups, but it IS a bit more of an adventure. Traffic in Bangkok is legendary at times, but I would not put a lot of weight on the proximity to the skytrain.
