I think it was said the "shoulder tap" selection will only be for the "soft rollout" after 1/1/2010.
That's sort of correct, for the soft rollout- but there my understanding (from the MVPG Wine Tasting) is there will also be a revenue-based component for qualifying for MVPP (sort of like how United Global Services works). In other words, if you don't hit the MVPP mileage/segment threshhold, but you DO buy enough expensive tickets, you're also going to get a "shoulder tap".
