gwn: I stayed at the Crown Plaza LHR about 2 years ago and found the stay very unpleasant . I guess it depends on what your tastes are etc.

You may want to check out http://www.marriott.co.uk/default.as...=MI_MUK_homlnk Marriott LHR is really quite nice and they aren't too expensive either.
