My wife has no elite status with CX. She redeemed her Asia Miles mileage for a free ticket for me. Currently I am still on the waitlist. Putting any other number on your asiamiles booking will not do any good as your waitlist has nothing to do with status , except that of MPC.
Waitlists in asiamiles bookings are handled manually. So if inventory control sees another FFP on the booking, it will be rejected automatically and worse, ignored.
Waitlist clearance will depend on route, and inventory. Basically inventory control has the final say as to who gets the seat or not. So even someone with no status can basically have a higher priority than another Oneworld Emerald member as far as CX is concerned.
