Sounds nice. In coach though AS has absolutely the worst meal options that I've experienced. An awful eggs, sausage and rice breakfeast at 2pm PST (NO lunch available at a few hours past lunchtime), or a snack pack that has greasy almond butter, big can of apple sauce (just to eat by itself??) and strawberry jam plus some really tiny, very little of, crackers. Basically just squeeze all the packets in your mouth and hope not to make a mess.. ugh.
Ah and now I recall, AS's own MVP Gold's get 1st class upgrades on flights to HI, but NW Plat Elites (= AS MVP Gold) don't, though we do on US49/CA flights, but not to/from HI apparently... so I never had a chance to experience that. I just am rather disappointed with the AS coach service, and also the freezing aircraft that made my neck very painful for a week afterwards (not just me, others also complained how come plane is so freezing cold, but nothing was done to heat it up) - though that is likely just a one-time issue, still not a good memory.
And then the fact that unlike NW and every other airline AS cancels all their flights even when a little bit of snow comes down (remember last year December & January in Seattle? ALL AS flights were grounded for a few days, while all other airlines were fine and kept flying - AS just wanted to save money on deicing fluid). It's ironic that an airline calls itself *Alaska* Airlines can't fly when there is just a tiny little bit of snow on the ground. Wonder how they ever fly for half of the year in Alaska if that is how they operate... (Sorry, just seeing the chaos at SEA last December with no AS flights getting out, everyone sleeping on the floor, etc. comes to mind.. while my NW flight to HNL then was no problem, AS had left all their passangers stranded and the airport unstaffed.)
