This is not true. Regardless of whether a foreign renter has /doesn't have coverage....they (to my knowledge) are not required to purchase it. IMHO I simply say 'the card covers it' and that's the end of discussion (they can't possibly know if thats true or not)
Ireland however does require foreign renters to purchase coverage
