2-class flights that might change to 3-class (or 3-class flown as 2-class) are another case where having open-dated paper coupons saying "A" as the class on them would help. In this case it was 3 flown as 2 so they may not even have used the F cabin at all, but for routes such as NRT where F is sold but on a totally random and randomly changing selection of flights then it can be very handy.
