This is a fallacy. Perks *DO NOT* come from Aeroplan but from AC proper.

The Aeroplan split is in fact currently *the* major issue with AC. When we hear for instance that "IKK is very expensive," this is not a statement of fact but a statement about pricing issues between AC and Aeroplan. Which did not exist before the split. So that before the split AC's perception was very different. Perception of cost was based upon marginal cost; now it's based upon pricing agreements.

So yes, the dramatic drop in value of Aeroplan rewards is a major turnoff.

One seriously wishes the Aeroplan smoke and mirror thing/crookery would rapidly go belly up and for AC to restart a real FF program.

Actually from this standpoint, a second bankruptcy might not have been a bad thing. Would have allowed AC to walk away from the agreement with Aeroplan, allowing them to start a new and real FF program instead of the current crookery.
