I came in on board with it from the US but what is the recent experience with UA and carry on policies out of HKG to the US ? I also have a computer backpack.
I am flying in paid C on UA (upper deck) and really no issue to store it in the cabinet but not sure I can get past UA check in or security.
What is the recent experience ?
Twice in the last 24 months I have been ask to put my notebook case inside my rollaboard reducing my carry on count to 2. This happens at Security, usually just after document check as you get ready to head towards x-ray. I've also had a sticker put on my carryon (or on my ticketjacket) indicating I had more items than allowed, but I can't remember exactly what it said.
In any event, it's hit and miss for me. I almost always exit Asia trips via HKG and usually have extra stuff I've collected along the way. But, my 21 inch rollaboard, usually bulging a bit, has never been questioned.
