I am a US Citizen and once, years ago, I had a passport control secondary. Apparently, they had just arrested somebody with a similar name for drug smuggling, and my record "popped" because the name was similar enough. So, they pulled me aside while they verified who I was, then they let me go.

(That was back in the days of the INS.....nowadays, with CBP combining passport control and customs functions, hopefully things are a little better organized. At least, the computer systems should be more sophisticated--after all, we're not talking about SABRE.)
