I left a jacket that was a service award from my company in a room at WDW a couple years ago ~ they sent it to me gratis. I was required to give a description of the item (easy since it had an embroidered logo, etc), but they didn't charge for shipping costs ~ the rate on the resort 'budget' hotels were still pretty expensive, I'm sure there was margin for about $6 USPS

I intentionally leave things in hotel rooms. When I travel for leisure I usually take past-prime clothing and leave it behind instead of laundering and repacking. I'm usually shopping and acquiring anyway. I leave unwanted items in a bag with a note to the effect the items have been left intentionally and to "Discard or Donate"....
