Hello, am thinking of relocating to Japan. I've lived there before but wanted to ask where folks go for family vacations...kids are young (2 and the other only a few months old) so I need a list of beach itineraries. One direct flight is a priority but doesn't look realistic. Here's my intial list:

Palau: Connecting via GUM seems a pain with a long stopover, inconvenient times, etc.

Bali: JAL has direct flights, so this certainly makes the cut, but baby #1 won't be old enough for a Hep A shot for some time.

Hawaii: No-brainer, have been many times, though by the time you connect to OGG and rent a car, etc. seems like it wouldn't work for a 4 or 5 day weekend.

Vietanm: Some of the islands look great (Phu Quoc), but again a connection is required in Saigon.

Philippines: Open to this, never been, but connecting flights and surprisingly high fares to get there from NRT.
